The holiday season is in full swing, which means the search for the perfect gift is on. Let our 2015 Gift Guide do the shopping for you. Members of the MDC management team visited our showrooms and selected a few of their favorite finds that they would like for their own homes.
“Everyone who knows me knows I’ve been up to my elbows in home projects. This vanity from Ann Sacks would be great for my guest bath – it has a vintage feel that would be perfect for the era of my home. I love this print from Baker with its watery colors and the subtle metallic sheen on the frame for that same room. This pair of armless chairs from Henredon Interior Design Showroom would be perfect by my fireplace, and I have a niche in my living room that’s just the right size for this brass star sculpture, which I also found at Henredon.”
- Susan Todebush, EVP/General Manager
“When I am looking for furniture to compliment my home, I am consistently drawn to Art Deco-inspired items. In my imaginary holiday shopping spree around MDC, more than a few “wish list” pieces caught my eye. I found a wonderful Theodore Alexander cabinet in the Marie Howard showroom that had the classic geometric lines and a subtle gilt finish that reminded me of the decadent 1920’s. Further down the hall, I also was drawn to a bench in the RJ Thomas showroom that juxtaposed the clean wooden lines of the frame with a lush, cut velvet fabric on the seat. I could imagine it looking right at home in my entry foyer. Those were just two of many pieces that Santa is welcome to bring down the chimney.”
- Whitney Gillespie, VP of Leasing
“I love color, texture, and pattern. I was really attracted to the vibrant color of the oil painting from the de Grimme Gallery, the richness of the teal velvet chair from Kravet, and all the colorful pillows at Master Suites (it was tough to pick just two!). The texture of the hair-on-hide shade lamp from Henredon is so unique, and the graphic pattern of the plush hand-tufted runner from The Ghiordes Knot really knocks me out!”
- Barb Cameron, Art Director
“The Jonathan Charles haberdashery cabinet from RJ Thomas would be a wonderful addition to my wardrobe. The many drawers and hooks create the perfect place to store all of my odds and ends, and there is even a hidden compartment for my most prized possessions. The Aztec rug from Ghiordes Knot would add instant energy to my bedroom and compliments the hardware, legs, and movement of the Haberdashery cabinet.”
- Emily Crawford, Events Manager
“With plans to finish my basement in the near future, the Vici Motion Sofa from Designer Group Collection, along with the Jonathan Charles Triple Decanter Set from RJ Thomas, would be great pieces to liven up the party when hosting family and friends in the new space. The Leather Valet from Decoroom would be a great addition atop my bedroom dresser. The buckle strap secures several compartments which provide ample storage space for accessories.”
- Craig Argenti, Marketing Administrator
“I would love to have this fireplace in my home! Not only does it honor the history of Pewabic Tile, a Detroit institution since 1903, I appreciate the beautiful richness of the color and unique finish. The feeling of warmth from this fireplace makes me think of snuggling up in a cozy chair with a good book, only to be interrupted by feeding the fire with more wood held by this handsome log holder and stirring the embers with the hand-forged fireplace tools, both by Ironworks International from Rozmallin. Each have a long history of craftsmanship that endures, and that I can enjoy in my home today.”
