Jane Schulak is a designer and founder of non-profit organization, Culture Lab Detroit. Since 2012, the art and social practice platform has fostered conversations and collaborations between Detroit and the international art and design community. Schulak is a graduate of the College of Art and Design at the University of Michigan and a native of Detroit.

She also co-authored At The Artisan’s Table with Event Producer David Stark, which highlights stunning contemporary tabletop designs inspired by historical decorative objects from the world’s great museums. Each chapter features a museum object that serves as a “muse,” the work and studio of the artist who has updated the traditional craft—including ceramicist Roberto Lugo, plaster artist Stephen Antonson, and fifth-generation quilter Loretta Pettway Bennett—and gorgeous table settings designed by Schulak and Stark that incorporate the artist’s handmade wares and provide inspiration for everyone who has ever wished to wow their dinner guests.
