Amy Hampton-Davies is a passionate business leader with over 25 years of experience in people leadership, strategic partnerships and business development, market expansion, and new product development in the consumer products retail and wholesale industries in North America. Amy started her career with Kohler Co. in 2007 in the Canadian market, has held various leadership positions, and now supports Laura Kohler and the global enterprise growth strategy for Kohler through sustainable product solutions for our customers including Kohler WasteLAB. Amy holds an Honors Bachelor of Design from York University in Toronto and has completed the Executive Sustainability Leadership program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

CEU Course Info

The United Nations has set 2030 as the deadline for member nations to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The construction industry has set complementary goals, including the AIA 2030 Commitment to reach net zero emissions in the built environment by 2030. This course discusses how circular economy building products are necessary to achieve sustainable design goals and presents the case study of Kohler WasteLAB, a small manufacturing business within Kohler Company that creates beautiful products for the home from waste.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
• recall the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) framework and identify how the business and design community can specifically address Sustainable Development Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
• describe the circular economy, its importance to business and our planet, and how it differs from recycling
• explain the relationship between embodied carbon and the circular economy, and
• describe how one manufacturer successfully applies the concepts of the circular economy to turn manufacturing waste into high-value products through an innovative design and manufacturing process.
